Friends 24-7...MDS Style!

It's always difficult for me to come up with masculine cards, so I thought I would give it a try with SU!'s My Digital Studio.  I love the "Friends 24-7" stamp set, but I don't own it yet.  However, it's included in My Digital Studio (along with about 60 other stamp sets plus loads of embellishments like ribbons and brads)!

This card was made totally from scratch.  My colors were Soft Suede, Not Quite Navy, and Very Vanilla.  The paper at the top of the card was designed using one of the stamps from the set filled with Creamy Caramel color.  However, I adjusted the opacity down so that the image wouldn't be as bold.

For the paper the bird image is "stamped" on, I started with a square punch filled with Soft Suede Dotted Stripe DSP.  I turned the opacity down to about 30, but the paper was still too dark behind the image.  I fixed that by adding another square punch filled with Very Vanilla and placed it directly behind the DSP .

The border is actually a group of curly label punches that partially overlap one another.

I printed it off using 4x6 glossy photo paper, trimmed it down to 4x5-1/4 and adhered it to a Soft Suede card base.

I'm really having a good time learning My Digital Studio.  Once you get into the program, it's pretty addictive.  I'll have to admit that I was skeptical about using it to make cards (versus actually stamping them), but now I can see the benefits of having BOTH options available.

  1. I found your card on SCS, and followed the link here. I just got MDS last night. LOVE YOUR CARD! So inspiring! I had been wondering about printing it out on a photoprinter. Thanks for sharing. -Tara (Philadelphia Demo)
