My Digital Studio - "Hybrid" Card

I hope you had a good weekend!  I thought I would share a "hybrid" card I made using SU!'s My Digital Studio.  A hybrid card is made of digital elements and traditional elemtns (like ribbon, brads, etc.).  I enjoy making hybrid cards becuase I can use images from stamp sets that I don't own but are included in MDS as well as the elements that make a card 3-dimensional.

I started with one of the cards from the "Summer Home Designer Kit". The original card looks like this:

I changed the background to Baja Breeze (one of my all-time favorites from the In Color collection from last year...but it's still available in MDS!).  I changed the border to Pink Pirouette and removed the flower and button images.  I also changed the greeting.   Here's what the finished card looks like:

I printed the card front on my home printer. (If you're curious, I have an Epson Stylus Photo R800 printer.) I used glossy 4x6 photo paper and just trimmed it down to 3-3/4"x5".   I added some felt flowers, a brad and ribbon.  Next came the 4"x5-1/4" layer of Chocolate Chip card stock and the Pink Pirouette card.

If you're new to MDS, the Designer Kits give you a good place to start.  Before long, you'll be creating your own cards from scratch!
