New Catalog Swap Card

Can you believe it's August already (I think I say the same thing the first day of every month...)?  The summer has flown by...

This is a card I made for a New Catalog Swap I participated in....haven't swapped in years.  Six years ago when I started as a demonstrator, swapping is how we got most of our ideas.  Now, the Internet has an overwhelming amount of ideas out there.  Still, it's nice to have "real" cards in hand to look at and enjoy!

I used my favorite "a la carte" stamp....the Triple Treat Flower stamp for just $8.95.  It really jumped out at me because this one little stamps coordinates with 3 punches....Fancy Flower Punch, 5-Petal Flower Punch, and 1/2" Circle Punch.

Here's a tip on coloring in the stamp.  I have a really difficult time using a light colored marker such as Pear Pizzazz to color in a stamp.  I usually get a pretty ugly color...murky and not bright.  So, for the center 5-petal flower and the circle center, I inked the entired stamp in Pear Pizzazz and then used my Melon Mambo and Concord Crush markers to color what I wanted.  Since the Pear Pizzazz is light, the dark colors of the other markers stayed true to their original colors and didn't mix with thePear Pizzazz.  Also, after I punched out the center circle, parts of the edges were white and not Concord Crush.  I ran the edges of the circle along the side of my Concord Crush marker and it made for a much neater look.

Here's what I used:
