Up, Up & Away!

I thought I would lighten the mood a little with this cheery birthday card (rather than "another" sympathy card).  The images are from the new "Up, Up & Away" stamp set.  It has several different balloons to choose from and different says as well.  Plus, people are already coming up with other creative ways to use the flower petals....ornaments.

I wanted to add some extra sparkle with glitter on the balloon.  The problem with using glue and glitter (for me anyway) is that it tends to bleed the ink beneath it since the ink is water soluable.  Instead, I pulled out something from my drawer that I have had for years but never used....a Versamark Pen.  What a brilliant idea!  LOL  I used the pen to apply Versamark ink to just the stripes and then heat embossed them with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  The ink didn't bleed and the glitter stays on...perfect!  I have to admit that my pen was dry, so I made a little "pallette" of Versamark ink and dipped my pen in it to reink.  Here's a close-up:
