Father's Day Card

Okay, so I apologize for using retired DSP, but there are plenty of other great patterns that will work with this layout.  The new Cottage Garden DSP has several patterns (other than the floral prints) that lend themselves to masculine cards.  I may just have to remake this card using one of them....

For now, however, I wanted to share this with you along with the dimensions and tools so you can let your own creative juices flow!

I made the frame around the greeting by first running through the Big Shot a 3-1/4x3-1/4 piece of Basic Gray card stock with the oval Designer Frame embossing folder.  I like to run it through using no tabs on the multi-purpose platform.  This helps prevent extra creasing around the edge of the folder and it still has a deeply embossed image.  Next, I ran the embossed piece through with one of the Labels Collection Framelits.  It wasn't my idea...I had seen it somewhere on the Internet.  I just love when I see new ways to coordinate tools.

Here's what I used:

Stamps:
Delightful Dozen
(You could substitute the "Happy Birthday" greeting from Perfect Punches as well.)

Paper:
Basic Gray Card Stock
     4-1/4x11 Card Base
     3-1/4x3-1/4 Frame
     4x1/4 Strip (above patterned paper)
Soft Suede Card Stock
     4x5-1/4 Striped Embossed Layer
Naturals Ivory DSP
     Scrap for Oval
Elegant Soiree DSP
     4x2 Striped Patterned Paper

Ink:
Early Espresso Stamp Pad
Soft Suede Stamp Pad (sponging around greeting and soft suede layer)

Accessories:
Stripes Embossing Folder
Designer Frames Embossing Folder
Labels Collection Framelits
Extra-Large Oval Punch
Sponges
Linen Thread
Silver Brads
Paper Piercer & Mat Pack
Stampin' Dimensionals

Hope you have a great weekend!
Beth
