Perseverance Pays Off

Here we go again....how could one little card take so long to make?  I was determined to use this stamp from the Four Seasons Hostess Set, but after many attempts I could not get a color combo that I likes.  So, I cleaned up my mess, told myself to "step away from the stamps" and tried again several hours later.  I wish the creativity just poured out of me, but it doesn't usually.  After all of the trying, I'm happy with the way it came out.

One of my dilemmas was how to get a crisp image with the bird and the branch.  The image is so little, that it's hard to use markers on it.  So, I decided to do things the hard (OCD) way.  I inked the entire stamp with Daffodil Delight so those little flowers would show up nicely.  Before I stamped my paper, I used an Early Espresso marker to color the branch.  Since the yellow is so light, I just colored right over it, stamped it on Whisper White and then punched it out with a 1" circle punch.  I like how the yellow ring is around the bird.

To get a decent bird, I inked the stamp with Marina Mist ink, stamped on Whisper White and cut that teeny tiny bird out with scissors.  It actually wasn't that hard and I really like how he looks.  I just glued him over the yellow bird.

The large scallop on the back is actually from the Perfect Pennants die. I also used the new Bitty Banners framelits.  I had seen another card using additional layers with the banners so I incorporated that here as well.

Here's everything I used:

  2. Beautiful card, Beth! I love the bird/branch/flowers.

Do you think that "perfectionism" is an inherited Dalton trait? Sounds like (me) and some of our other family members. :)
