Freshly Made Sketches #98

Hi, everyone!  I hope you've had a great week.

For this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge I pulled out some fall goodies.  By this time in the summer, I'm usually getting really excited about fall and the holidays being around the corner.  Not so this year.  I think it's because we've had a weird summer...lots and lots of rain and not much sunshine.  However, these colors make me dream of crisp days, beautiful leaves and a Carolina blue sky.  Here's hoping we get that this year!

Here's the sketch:

Note that the leaves were made using the Wonderfall stamp set.  It isn't in any of our catalogs, but it's still available to order.  Just click on the item number below to hop on over to the store.

I used the "rock and roll" technique on the Crushed Curry/Tangerine Tango leaf.  Basically, you ink your stamp with one color and then rock and roll the stamp in the second ink to get just the edges.  Be sure to always ink your stamp with the lightest color first.  If, for example, you inked the stamp with Tangerine Tango first and then rocked and rolled it on the Crushed Curry stamp pad...you're going to have Tangerine Tango ink on your pad and you're also not going to get the finished look that you're after.

For the Tangerine Tango/Chocolate Chip leaf, I inked the stamp and then lightly sponged Chocolate Chip ink around the edges before stamping.  I have a new Chocolate Chip pad and it's so inky that it wasn't giving me the look I wanted using the rock and roll technique.

I didn't use the coordinating Autumn Accents Bigz Die to cut out the leaves because it left a bit more border than I wanted.  Instead, I cut each leaf out by hand and then sponged the edges of each to cover up any ivory that was still showing.
