I saw the Gift Bow Bigz L Die in the Holiday Catalog (page 37) and thought "cute, but I don't really need that." Fast forward to a class at my upline's house where we used it. I came home and ordered it! These bows are so much fun to make. You can use the die for any occasion, and who doesn't have plenty of patterned paper crying out to be used?
You can make a large bow as shown above or a slightly smaller bow. The cutest of all is a layered bow like this one.
Check out this video to see how easy it is to make the bows. Plus, if you want to see more "how to" videos for products in the Holiday Catalog go to www.stampinup.com/showmehow.
Now, for my tip. You can use this for any of your dies, but I saw a real need for this one. For the bow in the first picture, you'll need (1) 2x9 inch strip and (2) 2x3 inch strips. It's cutting it close, but you'll be able to make your 12x12 paper go further using these measurements. (Just add (2) 2x4-1/2 inch strips and scrap to make the 2nd bow.)
We're making bows in my Christmas classes and a couple of people had trouble with not getting the strips right over the actual cutting edges. To make it easier to see if their paper was "off" just a little, I cut out the pieces from lightweight copy paper and attached them to the die with double-sided tape. So far, it will pull off okay, but I actually don't care if it does or not. I'm going to leave the "guides" on the die because it makes it so much easier to see how to place the pieces of paper. For the class, I only placed the guides on the pieces they needed to cut. I'll add the other guides later for my own use.
Let me know if you have any questions. Hope you find this helpful!
