Just received the January "My Paper Pumpkin" kit the other day. The suggested designs weren't quite my cup of tea, so I decided to use some of the supplies for other cards. We don't all like the same things, and that's okay. I'm excited to see what's coming up in February! If you'd like to learn more about My Paper Pumpkin, click here.
The card base is actually what would have been the inside of the suggested card. I couldn't let those cheery stripes hide out on the inside of the card! The little cut-outs on the front of the card are part of the original card base. They add just another cute dimension.
The stripes work really well with the Arrows embossing folder and banners. I don't think there's a right side/wrong side to the Arrows folder. I like both designs and it's kind of like getting a two for one.
Since I prefer the crisp image that you get with a stamp pad vs. coloring a stamp with a marker, I inked the "Make a Wish" greeting with my Midnight Muse stamp pad. I used my Blender Pen to remove a little of the ink from the pieces of the image that were close to the "a." If not, you get a little of the edges when you punch out the "a." For OCD people, that's not good. :)
So, while I didn't stick with the original design, I was able to make a card that I like in just a few short minutes. Sometimes you have to think outside the box....the My Paper Pumpkin box.
Here's everything I used:
Perfect Pennants (2014 Occasions)
January My Paper Pumpkin Card Base
Midnight Muse Card Stock
Whisper White Card Stock
Scrap for "a"
Calypso Coral Card Stock
Scrap for the piece behind the "a"
Baked Brown Sugar Stamp Pad
Midnight Muse Stamp Pad
Banners Framelits (2014 Occasions)
Arrows Embossing Folder (2014 Occasions)
1/2" Circle Punch
