Should I or Shouldn't I?

This is a birthday card I made for my nephew who will be turning 11 years old.  I debated as to whether or not I should make a card for him or just buy one.  I even went so far as to go to CVS and look through the cards.  The verses just didn't fit...they were pretty dorky for the most part.  Then I realized, "What am I doing here?  I have paper, ink and stamps at home.  Go make a card."

You see, it really doesn't make a difference that he is going to pay zero attention to the fact that I made a card for him.  As a matter of fact, once he finds his "gift" inside, the card will probably be thrown to the side or in the trash.  I don't care.  I made this card for selfish reasons....I love to make cards.

I'm so honored when people tell me they enjoyed a card I made for them and blown away when they say that they keep them.  I really do make cards with the intent that they'll bring a smile to the recipient's face.  However, that's not the main reason I make cards.  I make cards because this hobby brings joy to me!  Told ya....it's a bit selfish. :)

This really was an easy card to make.  I started out with the same basic layout as this thank you card.  Then I simply found a greeting that worked and built the rest around it.

Here's everything I used:

Stamps:
Perfect Pennants

Paper:
Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock
     5-1/2x8-1/2 Card Base
Tangerine Tango Card Stock
     4-3/4x4-1/4 Large Layer

Scrap for Piece on Greeting Banner
Very Vanilla Card Stock
     1-3/4x3-1/2 Greeting Banner
     Scrap for "a"
Retro Fresh DSP
     4-1/2x4-1/4 Patterned Layer
     2-1/4x4 Diagonal Stripe Banner
