Washi Tape Christmas Tree

Inspiration:  I've seen several cards similar to this where the main image was a butterfly or flower with the washi tape running behind.  I wanted to give a Christmas tree a try.  What better washi tape to use than the new Warmth & Cheer Washi Tape?  I really like the homespun look.

  • Cut your oval and scalloped oval and then layer them together with a little bit of removable adhesive like dotto.  Cut the tree out of both pieces at one time to make sure the cut out is lined up correctly.  I used our regular Whisper White card stock (not the thick), and didn't have any problem cutting both layers at the same time.  Once the tree is cut out, use some multipurpose glue to adhere the two layers together.
  • For the washi tape layer, start with a piece of 4-1/2x2-1/4 Whisper White card stock which is larger than the finished size.  I used a larger piece so I could cut down to the finished size which resulted in nice clean edges.  The finished size is 4-1/4x2-1/8 (approx...trim right below the last line of washi tape).
  • Cut an extra banner out of gold glimmer paper to layer behind the greeting.  Just cut the banner in half and attach it to the back of the greeting with glue dots being careful to shift one piece up and one piece down to make the border.
  • The oval is popped up with dimensionals, and the star is adhered with a glue dot.
