Lift Me Up Birthday Card

Inspiration:  This is a CASE of this card by Connie Stewart. I love how she made one additional score that changed the entire card.

  • The diamond patterned paper is actually the inside of the card. Connie used a strip of paper on the right-hand side for her card, but I decided to completely cover the inside of my card with the DSP. I added a 3x5-1/4 piece of Very Vanilla to the inside for the verse. It's scooted to the left so that it doesn't show when the card is closed.
  • The card base is 8-1/2x5-1/2 inches scored at 1 inch and 4-1/4 inches. Fold the 1 inch piece back to create to create a flap. The skinny piece of DSP is adhered under the flap butted up against the fold. Then glue the flap down on top.
  • The bow is held in place with a glue dot.
  • The top of the balloon is adhered with dimensionals as is the main image panel. Be sure to place your dimensionals to one side since part of the panel is exposed on the back.
  • I used multi-purpose glue to adhere the sequins. Micro applicators work like a charm to help apply the glue. Squirt a little glue on your silicone craft sheet and use the micro applicator to dab tiny spots of glue onto the card stock. Then add the sequins. (This idea came from Ilina Crouse.) You can also apply glue to skinny die cuts using micro applicators.
  • In addition, I added a tiny dot of glue under the ends of each tail of the bow. The metallic baker's twine tends to unravel easily, so I'm hoping this will  help minimize the fraying.
  • It doesn't show up in the picture, but I added clear Wink of Stella to the top of the balloon.
